FAQs

The thought of a boudoir session can be nerve wracking. When talking to women about their session, I get asked all kinds of questions. So I wanted to compile a list of my most frequently asked questions to give you some insight on preparing for a boudoir session with me!

Where is your studio and do you offer shoots anywhere else?
We offer shoots at our home studio in Woodbine, Maryland, which is in Western Howard County. We also offer shoots in different locations that we choose based upon your own needs.

I have never done this before. Will you help me prepare for my shoot?
Absolutely! I am here to help you every step of the way. I will send you tips to prepare for your shoot, will give you a list of what to bring with you and will pose you down to your finger tips during the session, so all you need to do is relax and let us take care of you.

How do I decide what to wear?
I am here to help you!  Upon booking your shoot I will send you our, “What to Wear Guide” to give you a place to start. As you gather your outfits for the shoot, you can text me photos of them to get my feedback.  Two outfits are included with your boudoir portrait session.  You may add a 3rd outfit and 30 more minutes of shooting time for an additional $100 due at booking. Some popular options for what to wear include a body suit if you’d like more coverage, a bra and panties set, oversized sweater with matching underwear, your husband’s work shirt or sports jersey, or lingerie and accessories like long necklaces and hats are fun to play with too.  For more guidance on what to wear check out my blog here.

When can I expect to see my photos following my session?
If your shoot is held on a Wednesday or Thursday, you have the opportunity for a same day session reveal and ordering appointment in which we will meet at a local Starbucks at 8:00pm the same night as your shoot for your session reveal.  If your shoot is held on a Friday, you have the option of scheduling an evening or daytime session reveal the following week.  The studio is not open on Friday evenings or weekends.

How much should I expect to invest with a boudoir shoot?
The initial investment to begin the portrait process is the $400 session fee due at booking. Your session fee includes your makeup application, pre-session consultation, our session time together and the image retouching time only. Digital images and print products are not included in this cost. A la carte folio boxes and albums start at $1500 and collections start at $1800. Payment plans are available. If you have a gift certificate, this may be redeemed to use towards the cost of your collection but may not be applied towards your initial session fee. Only one gift certificate may be redeemed for each session and they have no cash value, so may not be cashed in.

Do you have payment plans?
Yes! We want this experience to be as accessible as possible to as many women as possible who would like to do a boudoir shoot. Every client is offered a pre-session payment plan that can start as early as the day they book their session and can extend until the month before your session. For more information about our payment plans, visit our investment page here.

What if I need to reschedule my photo session?
We ask that you give at least 72 hours notice if you need to reschedule your session and depending on Julie’s schedule you may have to wait a few weeks before we can get you in again. If you choose to reschedule your session within less than 72 hours notice before your session for any reason other than sickness or weather, the session fee already paid will be forfeited and a new session fee will be required for your new session date.

Do I have to get my makeup done?
You don’t have to get your makeup done, but the cost is already included and I highly recommend using our artist since her work matches my style of photography and it’s part of the pampering experience. It’s a great time to relax and not have to jump right into your session when you arrive. If you choose not to use our makeup artist, you will have the same session fee cost as those who do use her services.

Can I have my hair styled for the session?
You have the option to add hair styling for your session, but this service is not included in your session fee.  Please let me know at booking that you are interested in adding this service and I will provide you with a list of stylists and the costs involved with them.

Do I get the digital images of my photos?
Yes!  Digital images and print releases are included in our most popular collections.

Will you post my photos online?
You have the option of signing a full model release which gives me permission to share any of the images from your shoot online or on my website or signing the partial model release which says that you are only comfortable with me sharing certain images that you can approve yourself first. Signing a model release is 100% optional.
